Priest and Pastoral Ministry in a Digital World: New Media at the Service of the World

We are already in a contemporary time and living in a digital world. A world where most people are engaged with the use of technology. The development of technology or the technological advancement today in different parts of the world seems to be uncontrollable anymore. It can be noticed that almost when we look at news papers, magazines, and internet everyday there is this newly   produced model of gadget either cellular phone, iPod, and computer. Thus these new models of gadgets sprout left and right.

However, technology is considered as a gift from God given to the people. Thus as a gift people must be responsible in using it. Technology really brings big change in this world. It has really a great effect to the whole human race. Further, the message of Pope Benedict XVI for the 44th World Communication Day with the theme; Priest and Pastoral Ministry in a Digital World: New Media at the Service of the World emphasizes the essence of the use of media technology as a modern means of communication in propagating the good news of salvation in different parts of the world. With this message the Pope it is clearly understood that he is appealing to the good conscience of the leaders of the church, the priest and pastoral ministry. However, this message of the Pope has also a great impact on my part.  Because of the fact that as catholic I’m part of the church and I need to participate also. Perhaps this is the time to make use of my skill in media communication. God has given me the skill in using modern technology for a great purpose so that later o I may be able to use it someday and I think this is the time.
